At The River Club in Scituate
Local Businesses Join Together to help South Shore Seniors
MARSHFIELD, Mass., -- Visiting Angels of the South Shore announced today that they are hosting the Third Annual ãDancing with the Angelsä fundraising event to benefit South Shore Elder Services and Old Colony Elder Servicesâ Special Needs Fund. The Special Needs Fund helps elders in the community who need assistance with everyday necessities of life, such as food, fuel, medicine and shelter. The event will be held on April 21st at The River Club in Scituate from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
According to Nate Murray, LICSW, Managing Partner of Visiting Angels of the South Shore, ãWe are very pleased to be hosting this worthwhile event again this year to raise awareness of the Special Needs Fund and the critical work the elder service organizations do with very limited resources.ä
äIn the first two years, the event raised more than $30,000 through sponsorship and ticket sales. The fact that so many businesses, organizations and individuals continue to support the event demonstrates what a caring community we live in on the South Shore,ä Murray added.
This gala event will feature live music by the White Heat Swing Quintet and offer a unique opportunity to get dressed up in evening attire and dance the night away.
As part of the eveningâs entertainment, amateur dancers from six organizations will participate in a 1920âs themed dance competition. The dance teams are from Old Colony Elder Services, South Shore Elder Services, South Shore Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, South Shore VNA & Hospice, Visiting Angels and Wingate at Silver Lake. In addition to hearing judgesâ comments on their performances, guests will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite dance team(s) with cash donations. The dance team with the highest combination of judgeâs scores and cash ãvotesä wins the competition. All money collected through voting will go to the Special Needs Fund.
